The Bio-Park Part 1

Yesterday we went to a "Bio-Park", which basically is a park/zoo.  When you are walking up to the entrance area on the right there are two blue and gold macaws just chilling on a branch with no cage or anything, and on the left there is a Llama that has a very short railing between you and it.  When we got our tickets and got in the park we went to the giraffe feeding (we basically ran across the park to get there on time).  Once we got there a trainer brought out this big branch with a bunch of leaves on it.  He stuck it in a hollow pole and the giraffe started ripping leaves off the branch.  It was kind of cool because I had never seen a giraffe eat a tree.  After we were done we went to the cage right next to the giraffe's.  In it there were ostriches and zebras in the same cage.  That's when I learned that Ostriches are UGLY.  They are the most ugly animal I've ever seen and I don't understand how it could even be called a bird because when you see it you definitely don't think of something that is graceful and eats worms or something.  That's not the Ostrich.

Anyway, after that we backtracked to the Kangaroos.  We got to go inside the cage, pet them, and feed them.  After we were doing that for a while I saw a Kangaroo with what looked like an extra claw sticking out of its belly.  I forgot about it and a little bit later a Joey stuck its head out of an invisible pouch.  It looked like an awkward position because one of his legs was out, one of his hands, and his head was out also.  The way that kangaroos move is quite interesting.  They start on their hind legs then they lean forward and support themselves with their arms and their tail while they move their back legs forward to repeat the process.  Sometimes, when they are in a hurry, they hop on two legs and they can go fast!  Once we got bored of that we kept moving on and found the hippos.  When we got there they were just sitting there in the sun.  We bought some cabbage and threw it at the hippos.  I thought they would just ignore it, but they got up and started eating it.  That's when they began to get lazy.  They would look towards us and just open their mouths and we tried to throw in the cabbage like a basketball.
After that we walked up a hill and saw: beavers, penguins, porcupines, and a skunk.  When we got to the skunk it was laying down.  Someone had the brilliant idea to throw a rock at it (Joe).  He picked up a rock and threw it at the skunk.  The skunk got up and screeched, but by then we had ran to the next exhibit.  The next exhibit was the flamingos and we decided to feed them.  At first I couldn't tell if the flamingos were blind or not because when we held out our hands with the food in them they kept on missing the food.  eventually they got the food, but they wouldn't just eat the food.  They had to get it in their mouth then dunk it in the water and then they would eat it.  After that we headed over to the goats.  They had long beard and horns just like cartoons and things.  When we got there,  we got some food from the machine and when they heard the noise of the machine giving out food they clambered up onto the fence and tried to get us to feed them food.

  1. Very interesting zoo. Sounds like a good place to visit. Probably pretty smart to run from the skunk. See you soon, Grandma Hull
