Today we went to the post office tower.
The Washington monument was closed so we went there and it is the
next best thing. You have to go through security at the beginning,
but there is nothing valuable there to secure. At the bottom of the
tower, they have a bunch of little shops with ice cream, souvenirs,
and CHOCOLATE! The elevator it get up there takes an eternity and a
half to go up and come down and is made of glass so you can see how
terrifyingly high you are. Once you are up at the top there are some
bells and a great view of the mall. They used to use it as a post
office (hence the name) then they added the tower to put the bells
in. The bells were a gift from England. The post office is no longer in use.
